What is the Level 3 in Education and Training?

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an entry level qualification for those who do not have a teaching qualification and wish to teach adults. It combines online learning with practical teaching practice. You are assessed on submission of a portfolio and delivery of a short teaching session to adults. If you are unfamiliar with what 'Levels' mean in adult qualifications, a Level 3 is equivalent in difficulty to GCSE.

The qualification also enables you to train to teach some courses offered to adults by training providers. For example, the training provider NUCO offers a 'train the trainer' course on First Aid for Mental Health and a range of courses on physical First Aid. You are required to have a teaching qualification to teach these courses. Once you have the Level 3 in Education and Training, you can take a train the trainer course and then deliver Level 2 First Aid for Mental Health and physical First Aid. You set your own fees for delivering the training. NUCO provides the certificates and registers your learners with the exam body, First Aid Awards (FAA). You pay an annual fee and a small fee per learner for this.
